1. the act of intersecting or crossing: »

Bridges are used to avoid the intersection of a railroad and a highway.

2. the point or line where one thing crosses another. In the diagram, there are two intersections where the line AB crosses the parallel lines.
3. Mathematics. the set in a group of two or more sets which contains those elements that belong to all the sets. Example: If set A = 1, 2, 3, 4 and set B = 3, 4, 5, 6, then the intersection of the two sets is 3, 4.
